Going through someone’s accounts without them there to give an explanation is a total waste of time

The balance sheet doesn't lie. Lloyd had a balance of €8200 on 31 December 2022. On 24 January 2023, he claimed there was a deficit of €700.

You used to be a JW, right? Think! What does this remind you of? The accounting at the JW conventions!

He provides a great service of spending his time

Sure, if you count 1 week out of the month as "spending his time". Which he has been amply compensated for, as the filings show. Lloyd is a liar. He just got exposed as one. You can't trust anything he says, so people are doing their homework on what are publicly available documents. It's not like someone hired a PI to delve into his finances.

If he were transparent like many YTers and Patreon creators are, then perhaps we'd have more "answers".

This is directly related to him claiming in January that he's broke and €700 in the hole. He said he couldn't pay out salaries. These filings show that this was an utter lie as he had €8200 in the company accounts three weeks earlier. As a result of his desperate pleas, he managed to get $1000 donated directly to him (tax free). He also gained patrons. This isn't jealousy and by his own account, he's nowhere near where he needs to be with at least 500, preferably 620 patrons.

This is about calling out a known liar and confronting him with his lies.

I'm sure there's a little bit of skimming off the top, and cash being paid for anything above normal salaries.

And I don't fault him for trying to keep that money and avoid paying more taxes. We all do that to some extent as is allowable under the law. Another way would be to purchase the equipment himself with his own salary and have the company lease it from him.

What I am concerned about is the €82K he pulled in and how much is from Patreon or other monies given him by donors. Google ad and YT revenue is fine - he earned that without any undue influence on vulnerable people encouraged to donate. JW Joe the janitor works 50-60 hours a week cleaning toilets and other manual labour tasks and comes home all sweaty from a hard day's work. Lloyd works a few days to little over a week out of the month from the comfort of his desk or filming content in a country where the median wage is €16,000 per year. Tibor and especially Dijana work even less. And he has the nerve to say that whatever he is paid out of the €82K (I think I saw somewhere that they actually pay out over €60K in net salary) is not enough and he's losing money. He's not losing money and he has enough to go round and live his lifestyle.

It was a flat out lie that the company was short €700 and couldn't pay out salary. They had €8,200 on hand at the beginning of January and it was his way of getting his patrons up and have a bit of cash on hand to blow.

Although it seems to be that Lloyd is wealthier than he is letting on.

Lloyd’s basically running a “ma and pop” outfit if I am reading this correctly. Nothing really special here, the business is just a vehicle for funnelling money to three parties, Lloyd, and to a lesser extent, Dijana and Tibor.

The company has physical assets such as their equipment and liquid assets, such as the €8200 they had in their bank account. That was essentially their surplus/profit, and the loss was claimed in order to not have to pay any of the profit toward taxes.

The company pays their income taxes, pensions and whatever else the Croatian government requires and distributes a net payment to the three employees. He can’t just give everyone cash and call it a day. They would also have to file personal tax forms and pay any deficiency or be refunded for overpayment.

Lloyd also has another company in the UK for his book publishing. Not anything as big as Ipsilon but it’s another source.

He still get the money when he begs for it. That is concerning.

And he’ll always have that core of 50 - 100 hardcore cedarites who will always be up to sending him money. His short term and long term issues are the remaining 300 - 350 current patrons who thought he needed the money, was providing a vital pro bono service, wanted the Patreon perks or were simply pressured into it by his constant pleading.

His begging charade in January came at a price and we’re seeing the bill come due in a few short days. He made two key mistakes imo. One - he insisted he could do something else if he wanted to. There’s more than a few who are calling him on that bluff. If he’s in that dire of straits then go get this job he said he could get and check in a couple times a month with a video like everyone else does. Two - he set two red lines as far as Patreon support goes. 500 was a bit of a stretch right now and even then he said he’d only “break even”. Hardly an inspiring thing to say to his donors, many of whom were already higher tier. Then he sets a ridiculous goal of 620 that no one has any illusions he’s going to meet. He’s effectively outted himself as having an opulent lifestyle when he was at 889 patrons. He never needed that many.

He has inadvertently set off a chain of events that is going to require cash infusions every two or three months. He’s already at the point where he needs to make another plea as he has blown through the $1000 given to him and he’s only 4 patrons over what he had in January. His support has been cannibalised and every subsequent begging event he’s going to get fewer and fewer people taking the bait.

I used https://ufile.io/. It is free, and you just drag the pdf over to the box it instructs you to. Then copy the link. It’s free but the catch is they only put it up for 30 days. That should be sufficient.

I am interested in seeing this information and also have your take on it. I hope JeffT will examine it since that seems to be the info he was seeking, and give his professional take.

For the record, though he didn’t make six figures last year for obvious reasons, the years of 2019 - 2021 really interest me. Especially since he was taking 15K from an Australian couple and even more from various donors for his holiday and was getting funded for his e~~arthquake relief~~ damaged chimney. I think this information would be valuable, especially to people still inclined to support him. It’s rather sick to see someone in all probability being the wealthiest person in the room relying on donations from the same people to facilitate his travel expenses.

Expenses were pretty high for someone who used grannny’s basement and his own home studio for most of the year. The rental on Ramacro will factor into some increased expenses, but it’s not like anyone demanded he rent a space specifically for his studio.

Also: these financials are only what he reported. I doubt he reports PayPal donations, green handshakes or money collected for “expenses” at his meetups.

This is completely insane. 2013 Lloyd Evans with a handful of YT videos and a silly survey no one took seriously was going to make media contacts overnight in a country where he couldn't speak the language. Was he planning on having his wife interpret or just cold-call them in English and ask to be put through to an investigative reporter?

For those who are interested in some idle entertainment and a general idea what JW Lloyd was up to when he arrived in Croatia on 31 August 2009 to 7 October 2009, there is this blog.

There's a lot of simple anecdotes, but a few things are clear: Dijana's parents did not appear to have any health problems. They were always at work, tending to and killing chickens, harvesting corn (Dijana's grandfather even helped), tending to the garden and his father-in-law was helping him finish his attic apartment and was even working on extending his shed with Lloyd. I'd say they were more active than most people their age in western countries.

Also, Dijana appears to have a huge extended family, with Lloyd commenting that she had "millions of cousins" and spoke of staying at her grandfather's and uncle's place.
